2006 Mardi Gras in St. Louis
Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday" in French) is the day before Ash Wednesday, and is also called "Shrove Tuesday" or "Pancake Day". It is the final day of Carnival. It is a celebration that is held just before the beginning of the Christian liturgical season of Lent. The feast should not be confused with the Polish Fat Thursday.
However, Mardi Gras totally lost its tradition, and turned out to be a good excuse for Americans to have parties and get drunk. As an international student, I went to the parade to experience "American Culture" but I totally oppose their crazy actions.
BTW, it seemed that anybody can join the parade only if you put whatever stuff on yourself and make yourself "unusual". Check the 2nd pic, I had NO idea what that character was. hahaha~~~
